National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

By: Grant Decker

October 11, 2017 was the night of the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. It all began with National Honor Society President, Ashley Wilton giving a few opening words and the new NHS members filing into the high school commons, followed by last year’s NHS members. Principal John Parker congratulated the new inductees and said a few words, which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Richmond Noteworthy Choir members Hailey Fairchild, Kylie Phipps, Emma Daniels, Mikayla Green, Garrett Gifford, Grant Decker, and Jared Richards.

Soon after, designated speakers talked about the pillars of being a National Honor Society member. The Speakers were seniors Sydney Stigall, Emma Daniels, Lennon Puls and Kris Dillon. The candle lighters were seniors CJ Dana, Garrett Gifford, Sierra Seller, and Mikayla Green. Then, the new members were inducted into the National Honor Society. Each student was called up individually to be given their NHS cards and flower. Then, Grant Decker was called to the piano to play and sing an original song that he wrote, “Where Did the Time Go.” After that, Dr. Renfro gave a speech and the ceremony was concluded. Refreshments consisted of punch and cookies.
