Richmond Middle School Music Festival

By: Grant Decker

On Saturday, February 10, the Richmond Middle School hosted the annual district music festival. The festival began at 8:00 a.m. and lasted until around 4:00 p.m. The full choirs and bands performed in the gymnasium, while all of the solos and ensembles in band and choir performed for judges in different classrooms.

Every single vocal solo and ensemble from Richmond, as well as the choir and band, received a 1 rating, which is the best anyone can get at this music festival. Richmond is very proud to have such talented students.

Richmond Noteworthy Choir students and a few Richmond Band students worked the event, with some of the students being room monitors, making sure none of the schools got out of hand in the classrooms. Other students brought the judges scoresheets back and forth from the rooms. There were also students and parents working the concession stands, where much of the food was donated by businesses such as Harps and McDonald’s. When the festival was concluded, students helped tear down the risers, clean up the rooms, and clean up the concession stands.
