Send Off to State Wrestling

By: Sydney Stigall

On Wednesday, February 14th, the Richmond High School gathered together to send the wrestling team’s state qualifiers off to Columbia, Missouri where they would be competing for the next couple of days. Sophomore Logan Claypole wrestling 120 pounds, sophomore Rance Waigand wrestling 126 pounds, and senior Austin Bowman wrestling 132 pounds, were the three qualifiers for state. They will be competing all day on Thursday, February 15th, Friday, February 16th, and the finals will be taking place on Saturday, February 17th.

As the wrestlers wrap up their season, these three will continue working hard for the next couple of days. Although the other wrestlers’ seasons fell short, they worked hard and had a great season. At the end of the state competition, Rance Waigand placed third, Austin Bowman placed fifth, and Logan Claypole had placed sixth in the competitions. Congratulations to all of the wrestlers this season and we wish future competitors good luck in the coming years.
