Spartan’s Set for Success

On Friday, March 9, students gathered into the gym for this year’s spring assembly. The leadership students kicked it off by introducing Coach Baker and the senior boy’s tennis players. Next, Coach Dennis was announced, and spoke on behalf of boy’s golf while the seniors stood by his side. Coach Quick was up next, the baseball seniors close behind him. Lastly for the spring sports, Coach Long took to the center of the gym and spoke about his senior participants, and the events they’re involved in.

Once all of the spring sport’s coaches were finished, Coach Quick and Coach Jermain happily discussed their players that were recognized as all conference players and all district players, and Coach Jermain was sure to congratulate his team once again for making it into the district playoffs. After they were done, Choir’s sextet going to state performed for the audience. Students Emma Daniels, Ansley Walker, Hailey Fairchild, Autumn Fisk, Sophia Donaldson, and Sophia Farnan performed two weeks ago, and received a score of one and a ticket to state. Unfortunately, Sophia Farnan was unable to attend school and the assembly, so choir member Kylie Phipps stepped in. After the sextet’s lovely performance, Mrs. Slater jumped in to thank her Mean Bean coffee shop helpers, and to remind everyone that they are open every morning.

FBLA finalists Tyler Boss, Kristopher Dillon, Danielle Mintzlaff, Seth McGraw, Ashton Vandiver, Taya Weber, Kali Watts, Logan Watts, Sara Harris, and Danny Rippy were called to stand front and center while Mrs. Cole stood to the side and announced what awards everyone received, and that they would be going to state. Mrs. Allen then took a moment to recognize her FFA State Degree recipient winners Kolyn Scott and Zach Stewart. Before moving on to spring sports trivia and a few class chants, Coach Beck took a bit of time to congratulate his three state wrestlers Austin Bowman, Logan Claypole, and Rance Waigand. Leadership students also took a moment to remind the students of the new bulletin board in the commons where you can leave positive notes, and gave Sergeant White a special thank you for donating all of the supplies to make it. The assembly concluded with a few fun trivia questions, and a class chant competition judged by Mr. Parker and Mr. Begemann.
