Welcome to the 2016-17 school year at Dear Elementary!! We are off to a great start. Teachers are working with students on learning the procedures and routines of the building. We do this to make sure our building can run as efficiently as possible and to give all students a safe, healthy learning environment. In addition, this builds responsibility in students and helps them to learn to control their little bodies. Dear Elementary staff would like to remind parents/guardians that being at school and on time is very important. If a child is in school every day this means they won’t miss out on learning. Try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours. If he/she asks to stay home “just because”, remind your child of what they will miss, such as his/her math group, reading group, art, music, or PE class. Explain that they can only be absent if he/she is really sick or if there’s a family emergency. Students also need to be at school on time. When a child is late it interferes with their day, interrupts the teacher, and the learning of other students. Being on time is a good life skill to teach your child. Dear Elementary staff is looking forward to a successful year of growth and learning for all of our students.
